We ask for as little as possible, we use it only to do the thing you asked for, and we don’t sell it to anyone. If you’d like us to delete what we hold about you, write to us and we will.
This website
The only information this site collects is what you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, the reason you picked, and your message.
We use it to reply to you, and — if that’s what you asked for — to tell you when the app launches. Nothing else. We don’t add you to a marketing list, and we don’t pass your address to anyone else.
The site itself carries no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no analytics. We don’t set cookies. Two ordinary technical notes, for completeness: the site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google in order to display them, and the contact form is handled for us by Formspree, which passes your message on to our inbox. Neither is used to build a profile of you.
The WineProdigy app
WineProdigy™ is still in development and is not yet available to download. Here is what it will do with your information when it is.
Your account. Creating an account stores your name, your email address, and your wine preferences — your palate, and the price range you usually drink in. That is what lets the app rank a list for your taste rather than for an average.
What a dinner leaves behind. We keep the restaurants where you drank wine, any impressions you record about what you drank, and the photograph of the wine list if you scanned one. There are two reasons for each. Your impressions build a taste profile that gets better the more you use the app. The scanned pages keep each restaurant’s list current, so the next diner finds it accurate.
Location. If you let the app see where you are, it is used to find restaurants near you and for nothing else. We don’t store it and we don’t share it.
Speaking instead of typing. When you dictate a dish, that is handled entirely by your phone’s own keyboard. No audio ever reaches us.
Keeping the app working. We monitor the app for crashes and performance problems, so that it stays fast and reliable.
Who else sees your information
We never sell your information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s advertising. Where we use outside services to run WineProdigy™, they handle your information only as far as they need to in order to do their job, and not for purposes of their own. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Messages sent through the contact form are kept while we need them to deal with your enquiry, and while you’re waiting to hear about the launch. After that we delete them.
Your account information stays with us for as long as you have an account. Ask us to close it and we delete what we hold.
What you can ask us to do
- Ask us what we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Ask us to stop contacting you.
Write to [email protected] and we’ll take care of it. You don’t need to give a reason.
Children
WineProdigy™ is about wine, and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It isn’t designed for or directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant and we have your email address, we’ll tell you directly.
